I’ve often thought of myself as a time-traveller, writing for those who enjoy as I do an escape from the modern world into the romance and excitement of the past. All my novels are partially set in Sussex where I farmed for many years, although I’ve also sent my characters far and wide across the world – from Crusade sieges in medieval Palestine to the horrors of the Somme battlefield; from the Colombian Andes to the penal colony of New South Wales.
I’m attracted to original plots driven by characters I can identify with, and am frequently drawn to social outsiders in developing my heroes and heroines. I like to be informed, amused and moved by the stories I read, and even more so by the books I write. I’m fascinated by the unusual and look for situations that will animate and stretch my characters.
So if like me you’re interested in time-travel; if my novels sound like your kind of a read – then it would be perfectly true to say that they were written with you in mind.
Good reading then, and best wishes,
